When Robert Downey, Jr. and his wife rolled up to the Iron Man 3 Premier in a red 2014 Audi R8 Spyder, fans were obviously cheering.

Perhaps they were excited to be in front of the historic El Capitan and TCL Chinese Theatres. Maybe the appearance of Tony Stark himself got everyone all amped up. Or, it could have been the mere sight of that high-performance automobile that got them going.

You may hear the word Scorpion when you visit us here at DFW Audi, and we'd like to clue our blog readers in on what this is code for: a new, race-bred hypercar from the German automaker that is jam-packed with racing technology.  It's based directly on the R-18 e-tron Quattro Le Mans racer that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2012, and while a final design has yet to be revealed, it's definitely going to be in a class of its own.

We've sung the praises of the Audi R8 before right here on the DFW Audi blog in a previous post, and we've just learned that the electric version of this powerful car will soon have a major moment of its own as a star in the new Iron Man 3 film.

The Audi R8 has commanded our attention ever since it was first launched in 2006.  It has received an incredible amount of praise for being a smart supercar that can be used for everyday excursions, and it pioneered the double-clutch gearbox before they became de rigueur in performance cars across the market.  The R8 has been redesigned for 2013, and here at DFW Audi, we can't wait to see how it's been improved.

While you're probably very familiar with the Audi A4 and A8, you may have never heard of the Audi S3.  Previous versions of this five-door Sportback have never been released outside of Europe, but the luxury brand recently announced that it will produce a new generation of the performance hatchback and rumor has it that it could arrive stateside in the very near future.

DFW Audi can't confirm this speculation, but we can give you all the details on this revamped version that will definitely be officially unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show.
